COVID 19 UPDATE

May 11th,  2021 UPDATED RELEASE:

BAYVIEW GARDEN WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE 2021 SEASON

At the time of this update, Haida Gwaii remains closed to visitors until further notice.

With the new ongoing vaccination campaigns, there are hopes that the islands might open up to tourism in the coming months, but no formal decisions have yet been made by the local governments.

After some careful thought about the impacts of the pandemic and partly due to private circumstances, we have unfortunately decided to close the Bayview Garden for the 2021 season. We have to cancel all booking requests for this upcoming season.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you do have a chance to travel up to Haida Gwaii this year, you can contact some other accommodation providers in our community.

A quick online search will give you some options. Seaport B&B can be reached at http://www.seaportbb.com/. Other options for lodges or Inns in town are Northern Shores Lodging and the Moresby Island Guest House.

There are also a few cottages/self-contained options such as Island Otter Cottage, Lynn’s Place, Maada’s Nest, and the Sunrise Cabin, all contactable through Airbnb.

There are of course many more options available in other communities on Haida Gwaii.

We plan to reopen The Bayview Garden for the 2022 season, and hope that the state of the world will allow for a relatively normal summer season to take place.

TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION

At the time of this update, please note there are still no Air Canada flights operating to Haida Gwaii (However, there are flights operated by Pacific Coastal serving Masset), and BC ferries still enforces some travel limitations to non-residents.

Air Canada has recently announced that flights should resume by June 23rd, 2021.

GWAII HAANAS

Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve is currently closed, and may reopen for the summer (potentially with some restrictions), but without any guarantees for the moment.

BOOKINGS

We are currently accepting bookings for the 2022 season.
